FAQs & Add Ons

  • Microchanneling is a noninvasive procedure designed to stimulate your body’s own natural ability to generate collagen, elastin, and other building blocks of healthy skin. By stimulating the outermost layers of the skin, microchanneling can help your body start this process without penetrating into living tissue.

Procell Microchanneling uses small wire filaments (similar to what is used in electrolysis) in a stamping motion on the skin. This can be performed all over body, face and scalp. Each tip can range in depth from 0.5 to 1.0 depending on what skin condition and part of the body we are treating.

A single Procell treatment creates hundreds of thousands of microchannels. In response to each micro-injury, an inflammatory healing process begins which initiates the formation of new collagen. Over time, the repeated healing process improves the surface texture and the overall appearance of the skin.

Procell Microchanneling can help with acne scars, body scars, fine lines and wrinkles, pigmentation, loss of elasticity and even hair loss.

Human growth factors are used with each treatment. They are derived from bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells which are known to promote scarless healing with minimal inflammation and enhances delivery and collagen growth.

  • THIS PROCEDURE CANNOT BE PREFORMED IF:

    You are pregnant or nursing

    Have a compromised immune system

Have Cancer and/or undergoing chemo or radiation treatments

    Have uncontrolled diabetes

    Are allergic to stainless steel

    Have chronic inflammatory skin disease

Have Hemophilia or any bleeding disorder

    Have an active Herpes virus

Have taken Accutane within the last 2 years

  • All Microchanneling sessions include a weeks worth of after care products.

  • Topical numbing is used. With minimal physical discomfort, most clients are able to do the procedure without any noticeable pain. There is no lingering discomfort, and we have a number of strategies we employ to minimize discomfort during treatment. Post-procedure, most people report a “tight” feeling in their skin.

  • PRE TREATMENT:

It is recommended to exfoliate your skin at least 12 hours prior to each session.

If you are prone to cold sores please begin your Acyclovir or Valcyclovir two days prior to your appointment and continue taking it 2 days post treatment.

Discontinue retinol (2% or higher) or tretinoin at least 3 days prior.

Depending on the needle length a topical numbing cream may be applied before your procedure. You can expect a mild redness, light swelling, tiny red flecks, and a tight warm sensation (similar to a sunburn) for the first 12-72 hours.

You can take Tylenol 1-2 hours before your treatment to help reduce any discomfort.

Please arrive without makeup and with clean skin, and for men a clean shaven face. (shave the day prior)

If your treatment is for hair loss please arrive with clean, dry hair and as short of a haircut as possible. Please do not apply sprays or gels.

If you have had Botox, Fillers or any recent injectables you must wait at least two weeks before having this treatment.

    POST TREATMENT INFO:

Please avoid applying any products, other than what you have been given, until the following day.

Do not touch treated areas with your hands, cellphone etc. Irritations from these sources can cause an allergic reaction or possible acne breakout.

Protect your skin with a high SPF sunscreen.

Avoid exposure to pet dander, cat litter and other irritants for 24 hours. You may experience a mild allergic reaction to pets and other things you don’t typically react to. If this happens you can take antihistamines as needed if tolerated.

Before going to bed replace your pillowcases with clean, fresh ones.

Avoid steaming, sweating or excess water near the treatment area for the first 24 hrs.

Your skin may feel hot, tight and itchy like a mild sunburn. Moisturize often, and use a cold compress as needed.

Redness and swelling is normal and will generally clear up between 1-3 days.

Mild skin sloughing may occur for a few days after your treatment. Moisturizing OFTEN will help minimize this.

Mild acne and milia can happen in very RARE cases. Avoid picking at this and it will clear up in a few days.

Trans epidermal water loss is a common temporary side effect and may leave you feeling dry for the first week. Drink lots of water and again moisturize frequently throughout the day. The more you do this the better your results will be.

The second evening after your treatment, apply the Cellular Renewal Serum and Healing Accelerator to further enhance your results. Cleanse with a mild cleanser and then apply 2 pumps of each product, each evening before bed. In the mornings, cleanse and moisturize.

Further treatments can be done 3-4 weeks apart. Generally speaking, a series of 4 treatments will bring about the best results.

    POST SCALP TREATMENT:

Do not apply any products to your hair or scalp for 24hrs

Scalp may feel similar to a sunburn, use cold compresses if needed

    Use a fresh clean pillowcase

Peeling and skin sloughing may occur for a few days after treatment

Use a good quality Biotin shampoo and conditioner. If it also has Collagen even better.

Let hair air dry whenever possible and avoid rubbing your towel aggressively on your head to dry it. This can cause breakage.

    Avoid tight hats.

Hair serum is available for purchase to better stimulate growth.

  • It is normal for treatments to result in some skin irritation, especially for clients with more sensitive skin. Always wait a minimum of 24 hours before putting anything else on the skin. During this time it is normal for the skin to remain pink or light red. Keep in mind however, that as your skin may be more sensitive than usual for several days after the treatment, especially strong topicals should be avoided until the skin returns to normal. Use the aftercare provided until it is all used up. Dryness, flakiness and tightness is all normal! Some people may even break out after.

Microchanneling stimulates the body to release peptides, cytokines and growth factors that induce collagen production. As you get older, the stem cells that produce these vital proteins lose efficacy and decline in population, so microchanneling alone becomes less and less effective. Because of premature aging, the Microchannel Delivery Serum and the post care Cellular Renewal Serum and Healing Accelerator Serum become more vital to improvement. Use of the ProCell aftercare products ensure the skin continuously receives potent, robust, pristine peptides, cytokines and growth factors even in between treatments. Think of diet and exercise – microchanneling without serums is like exercising without dieting. Results can be good with microchanneling only, but are significantly amplified with serums.
